Q. - Who can participate in PNWR Driver Skills events?
All PNWR members, their families, and their guests are encouraged to participate! You do not need to be a club member to register, nor do you need to drive a Porsche on the day of the event. For events that fill and have a waitlist, preference will be given to waitlisted club members before non-club members.
Q. - Can minors (under 18 years old) participate??
Yes. Driver Skills is a perfect course for young drivers and we encourage their participation, provided they are at least 16 years of age and possess a valid driver's license on the day of the event! Young drivers will learn valuable skills for everyday driving and their confidence behind the wheel will increase significantly. A parent or legal guardian is required to accompany the minor participant, although the parent or legal guardian does not need to participate. Minors and their parent or legal guardian must also fill out two additional waivers before the event. The waivers are available as PDFs online. Waiver 1; Waiver 2. Log in to the PCA.org website for the latest version of these waivers.
Q. - Is Driver Skills worthwhile if I don't have a sports car?
Absolutely. We encourage participants to bring the vehicle that they drive the most, whether it's a Ferrari or a Suburban. Instructors are versed in the dynamics of many different vehicles and will work with you to learn the envelope of whatever you bring to the event.
Q. - How do I register?
You must register online to attend a Driver Skills course. Visit our registration website. All events open for registration are listed here. You will need to create a (free) account on the MotorsportReg.com website to register. Note that most Skills Days fill up 1-2 weeks beforehand, so register early.
Q. - What does it cost to participate in Driver Skills?
The participation fee is $85, including a hot lunch. Helmet rentals are available for $30 (waived for those 21 years old or younger)..

Q. - What's the difference between Driver Skills and Driver Education?
Driver Skills and Driver Education are two separate programs that PNWR volunteers organize. Driver Skills is a course in the fundamentals of high performance driving, whereas Driver Education is an advanced, high-speed course. We recommend completing at least one Driver Skills course before participating in Driver Education. For more information, check out the Driver Education program section
Q. - Does my car need a professional technical inspection beforehand??
No. We will provide a basic vehicle technical inspection on-site on the morning of the event. A technical inspection checklist will be emailed to all participants after registering for the event. Cars in good working order usually pass. The most common faults found are low tire pressures, loose batteries, and unsecured accessory equipment, e.g. car audio amplifiers.
Q. - Do I need a helmet?
Yes. All participants are required to wear helmets rated Snell-2005 or better (e.g. Snell-2005 or Snell-2010) during the event. If you do not have a helmet that meets this requirement, we have a limited number available for rental. Either automobile (e.g. Snell SA-2005, SA-2010) or motorcycle (e.g. M-2005, M-2010) helmets are acceptable. There are no exceptions to this rule. If your helmet does not have a Snell rating, it is not acceptable
Q. - What else should I bring?
Bring a tarp to cover any items from your car you remove before the event. Bring snacks if you need them throughout the day - there is no food service besides lunch at the track. Bring sunscreen in the spring and summer months.
Q. - What should I wear?
The weather at Bremerton can change quickly any time of year, so come prepared for sun (hat, sunglasses, sunscreen), rain, or windy conditions. During the winter months, bring a warm coat, especially important while sitting inside for the ground school.
