PCA Sim Racing

In the last few years sim racing has experienced accelerated growth in active participants and time on-track. This phenomenon has not gone unnoticed by Porsche and the Porsche communities worldwide. So, what is sim racing all about?

In essence sim racing is about accurately simulating auto racing through personal computer software. Sim racing has been around for quite a while and is sophisticated and comprehensive today, with real-world (car dependent) variables such as fuel usage, damage, tire wear and grip, brake pad compound, aero settings, suspension settings, differential specs, energy recovery systems, motor generator units, and (laser scanned) real world racetracks.

PCA has embraced iRacing as platform for PCA sim racing. Through the PCA Sim Racing program, our PNWR members can develop new/strengthen friendships, learn from others, and contribute to other's success by getting together in sim racing eDE sessions, practice sessions, sim racing series, zone series, or the team series. There is also an opportunity to raise money for charity.

The program is sponsored by Porsche, next to HAGERTY Motorsports, Pirelli, Michelin, and Z1 Dashboard & Analyzer.

Currently, there are five Porsche cars available in iRacing:

  • 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport
  • 911 GT3 Cup (based on the 991 + 992)
  • 911 GT3 R
  • 911 RSR
  • 919 Hybrid Le Mans Prototype 1 (LMP1) race car

All these cars can be experienced at the most thrilling tracks, such as:

  • the legendary Nürburgring
  • Spa-Francorchamps
  • Road Atlanta
  • Le Mans
  • Circuit de America
  • Laguna
  • Sebring
  • Watkins Glenn
  • plus many more

Key components of the PCA sim racing program are:

  • Driver Education - learn new skills and become a better, more consistent, and faster driver through the driver training program called eDriver Education (eDE). eDE is modeled after the popular PCA HPDE activity where well-versed instructors train drivers in the classroom and on track. The eDE program emulates the same concept in sim racing.

  • Series Racing and Team Racing - join the exciting individual-based series racing, zone racing, and the thrilling team series.

  • Passionate Porsche Online Community - learn from others and participate actively in the PCA sim racing community to learn and contribute to others’ success.

  • Charity - help others through participation in PCA sim racing charity events. For example, in May 2021, we raised $17,400 for Operation Motorsport through a PCA sim racing Team racing event. We supported ill, injured, and wounded service members and disabled veterans, affected by military service, leading to aiding in their recovery and rehabilitation.

  • Sponsorship - PCA sim racing is sponsored by world class brands such as Hagerty, Porsche, Michelin, and Pirelli, and almost all racing series are broadcasted live on YouTube.
