Whidbey Island Porsche family beach Picnic (non-club event)

Porsche Family Picnic at Rocky Point on Sept 24 - celebrating Ferry Porsche's Birthday.

Invitation from John Brooks -

I am long time Porsche pusher, hosting a Porsche Family Picnic at Rocky Point, In Oak Harbor, 24 September; Celebrating Ferry Porches Birthday. The facility is on the west beach of Whidbey Island just south of the Naval Air Station.

The 356 Groupe NW is attending, and I thought it might be good to include the Porsches’ of PNWR for the birthday.  It’s an informal no sponsor get-together, “Just Show Up”.  Bring your own food and drink, Kids and pets are more than welcome.  It has an indoor lodge if the weather is not cooperating.  We plan to start about 10:00 until sundown (the best sunsets and views.)  It’s just a drive up, meet, eat lunch, hang out at the beach. Or then break into groups and maybe drive the back roads on the island, visit the Car Show that day in Coupeville, do your own thing. The picnic ground will be a point of departure and recovery for an Island Day.

Just bring your Porsche, follow up cars filled with the kids, grandparents or beach gear welcome. Plenty of parking at the facility.  Paved parking, playground, beach, inside seating, room for about 200. The link below is the facility, we have the area west of the golf course between the roadways for the day. I have the facility for the day, no charge for attending.

Driving directions to the Rocky Point Recreation Area:

  1. Take I-5 to Burlington
  2. Take exit 230 which is State Route 20 W/WA-20 W/Avon Cutoff
  3. Stay on WA-20 west to the traffic circle, follow WA-20 to Whidbey Island.
  4. After crossing the Deception Pass bridge, turn right at the 2nd traffic light (look for the A-6 airplanes on poles)
  5. Head west on Ault Field Road through three traffic lights, then at the traffic circle, take the first exit.
  6. Head down the hill for one mile.
  7. Rocky Point Area Park entrance is the first curve on the right.
