Tour: Vehicle Research Institute @WWU
Attendees pay for their own charges
Come join us for a short driving tour that ends up at the Vehicle Research Institute (VRI) on the campus of Western Washington University in Bellingham. The tour stars at the Smokey Point Rest Stop near MP 207 in Arlington, WA and winds through the back roads just east of I-5 around Lake McMurray, Big Lake and Lake Whatcom with a rest stop in Sedro-Woolley. The show time has been moved back to 9 AM, driver's meeting at 9:30 and departure starting at 10 AM.
Then its on to Bellingham and the Vehicle Research Institute (VRI) program at Western Washington University. The students from WWU will present a program about VRI and demonstrate how they design, build and then compete with their prototype vehicles at the national Formula SAE competition. PNWR has sponsored VRI with our largest donation of the year over the past several years, so come see first hand how they use the funds in their unique program. It will be an education! Lunch will be provided, followed by a tour of their facility and the unveiling of their new "Viking 59" vehicle.
This is a two part event: part 1 is the drive up to VRI and part 2 is the lunch and presentation at VRI. You do not have to participate in the tour up with the group if you prefer to drive alone to VRI. Please note your preference on the registration form. Only sign up for ONE option! Note also, there is no driving style preference for this tour.
